Weekly Report : October 17

As we are now at the end of the second full week of the hockey season it seems the hockey gods have gone crazy! Perennial loser Phoenix sits atop the standings in the Pacific Division. Hey, when Bettman goes can we bring back the Smyth, Norris, Adams, Patrick. And, let's see, (barring contraction) we'll need two others, how about Howe and Orr? One thing that is a sure sign the hockey gods are not crazy are the Leafs sucking and this week's bottom of the pile, one "Dizzy" Derek Zabel who amassed a mere 7 points. Co-captains at the top of the pile this week are the DOMs team and George Sali, the latter with on Ovechkian effort to help lead the way. The rest of us are all saying "it is early still, and it is, with the commissioner's back to back games, then take a week off scheduling. "The Count" has definitely got to go ... and soon!

BLOG

Hey, are we going to fire this Blog up? We need to get some contributors.

I really wanted to see Rypien vs Brassard last night night, actually, I have wanted to see Rypien fight anybody this year. He has to be the most entertaining fighter in the league.

Shirokov -Sure-o-disappointment so far. Still, I'd like to see him stay in the line up as opposed to being Moosebound when Demo comes back.

Brooks Laich - 5 points in 2 games.... great pick Derek. Oh thanks Derek.

The Draft Approaches

Oh yeah! It is almost that time, the anticipation in the air, the lists being checked and rechecked, homework being done to try to find that player who will shock the league and have a career year. I speak of course of draft day for this year's hockey pool. This truly is the best time of the sports year, hockey starting up, pennant races in baseball, CFL, NFL. Absolutely awesome.

Final Stats

Wow, leading pretty much pillar to post Blamac: Bill and Ross congrats guys. Coming out of nowhere to second place Ken and Ryan. And finally Dizzy is off the snide and into a top 3 position, but can't hold on to second. Early season leader George gains the magical 5th from last to recoup his entry fee.

Thanks for a fun season folks, see you next year.

Weekly Run Down 9 March, 2009

This week saw some real moving and shaking for those who are not in the top 3. Can anyone catch or suprass Derek, Mike/Dennis, or even the leader Blamac? Time will tell.

Surging this week is the team of Bill & Liina with 29 points. Plunging this week 2nd place Mike & Dennis ... could this be the start of the lead horses falling back to pack? Hmmmm.

Weekly Run Down 2 March, 2009

Trade deadline coming up this week in the NHL, will it affect any of the players drafted in our pool? We will see.

A tie at the top of the weekly leaderboard as Blamac's Jarome Iginla lit it up last night in Calgary's loss to Tampa Bay. Surging this week, me and the team of Ross and Bill with 27 points each.

And a tie at the other end of the specturm sees the two Craigs given name Craig Van Alstyne and surname Matt Craig with 14 points a piece.

Weekly Run Down 23 February, 2009

Sorry for no update in a while, I've been on a little A/V. This week I am plummetting like a stone, with a measly 13 points.

Surging up the standings this week are Ken and Ryan who have jumped all the way up to 5th overall with a big 36 points, doubling my meager 13.

All Star Break

Hello folks,

We are at the All-Star Break now, and at the half way point of this race, we find the front-running Bill and Ross (Blamac) ahead of the pack with 352 points, a full 90 ahead of our dead last Al (who saw that coming?) Bolan! Our top six have all passed the 300 point margin, so throw a few injuries in the mix, and its still anyone's game.

Enjoy the second half.

Weekly Run Down 19 January, 2009

Well, my team is actually surging this week. Despite two injuries everyone else on the team has stepped their game up to give me 28 points.

Plunging this week is Mike Link, with a 15 point week.

The all star break is this coming weekend, and it looks like anyone could still win this.

Weekly Run Down 12 January, 2009

Its been a while since we've had one of these.

Surging this week was Dizzy Derek Z. With nothing from his last two picks and a relatively balanced attack from his top eight, Derek put up 31 points this week, and sits 3rd in the overall standings.

Plunging this week we see Chris and Alvin circling the bowl, with 12 points.
